Facility Maintenance

Our objective is to provide for economical repairs of city buildings with minimal turnaround or down time at a cost less than private sector contractors.

Our goal is to consistently check for quality of our services, productivity and supplies in order to maintain a high level of quality in-house services. In addition, Facility Maintenance constantly monitors and compares services provided by the private sector, in order for us to ensure our budget is utilized properly.

Functions

  • Maintain 35 city buildings

  • Perform all plumbing, electrical, air conditioning and heating repairs

  • Remodel and handle additions to offices

  • Provide masonry work and painting

  • Oversee projects by outside contractors when the need arises

  • Annual inspections of fire extinguishers, alarms and signage

  • Ensure compliance with ADA and other state regulations

  • Maintain 33 traffic lights in conjunction with the Texas Highway Department

  • Maintain 15 School Zone flashing lights

  • Provide janitorial services for certain buildings and also pest control

  • Provide janitorial supplies for all city buildings

  • Assist with the Texas Citrus Fiesta

  • Coordinate recycling efforts citywide

  • Provide telephone and computer repair/hook-up
