Parks

Overview

The Parks Division is comprised of 38 employees and is responsible for the maintenance of 25 city parks and all facility grounds. Park Crews also mow city right-of-ways and are responsible for graffiti clean-up, weedy lots, and 3 cemeteries. This division also provides for all city special events.

City Parks

  • ALA BLANCA PARK (4.0 acres) – W. Bus. Hwy. 83 & Moore Field Road

    A Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground, Softball/Baseball Field, Walking Trail, and 6 Picnic Shelters.

  • ASTROLAND PARK (4.0 acres) – S. St. Marie & Bahia Road

    A Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground, 6 Picnic Shelters, Covered Pavilion, Walking Trail, and Basketball Court.

  • BANNWORTH PARK (18.5 acres) – Shary Road & Village Drive

    A Community Park, which includes a 7/8-mile Jogging Trail, Playground, Pond with a Pier, Picnic Pavilion, 8 Picnic Tables, Football/Soccer Field, Baseball/Softball Field, Restrooms, and Open Play Area.

  • BIRDWELL PARK (8.0 acres) – Stewart Road & E. 24th St.

    A Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground, Non-lighted baseball field, and Open Play Area.

  • CWV PARK (17.1 acres) – 115 S. Mayberry Road

    A Community Park, which includes the Mission Service Center, a Day Care Center, the CWV Athletic Complex, 2 Lighted Softball Fields, Mayberry Pool (heated), Playground, Picnic Pavilion, 6 Picnic Shelters, Restrooms, Half-Mile Walking Trail, and Open Play Area.

  • FIRST STREET PARK (1.7 acres) – E. 1st. St. & Conway Avenue

    A Neighborhood Park.

  • JAYCEE PARK (10.0 acres) – Los Ebanos Road & Barnes St.

    A Community Park, which includes 2 Lighted Baseball Fields, Playground, 2 Basketball Courts, 11 Picnic Shelters, Restrooms, and Walking Trail.

  • JOSE M. LOPEZ PARK (3.0 acres) – W. 4th St. & Dunlap

    A Neighborhood Park, which includes 4 Lighted Tennis Courts, a Playground, 6 Picnic Tables, and Restrooms.

  • LA LOMITA HISTORICAL PARK (7.5 acres) – FM 494

    A Special Use and Neighborhood Park, which includes 2 Pavilions, Restrooms, and an Amphitheater. Historic preservation of Oblate Mission, Picnic Tables.

  • LIONS PARK (4.0 acres) – 1500 Kika de la Garza Loop

    A Neighborhood Park, which includes 2 Lighted Baseball Fields, Playground, 2 Picnic Tables, 6 Covered Picnic Shelters, a Scout Hut, Community Center, Restrooms, and the Texas Citrus Fiesta Office.

  • NELL TOLLE PARK (13.4 acres) – Adams St. & Blake St.

    A Community Park, which includes Lighted Baseball Field with a backstop, 3/4-Mile Walking Trail, Playground, 6 Picnic Tables, Football/Soccer Field, Restrooms, and Open Play Area.

  • NORTHSIDE POOL (2.0 acres) – W. 15th St. & Stabaugh St.

    A Special Use Park, which includes a 50-meter pool open to the public March through October, Restrooms, Outdoor Sand Volleyball Court, 6 Picnic Tables, and Picnic Shelter.

  • OBLATE PARK (3.0 acres) – E. 12th St. & N. St. Marie Road

    A Neighborhood Park, which includes 2 Lighted Tennis Courts and is the city’s oldest park, 1916.

  • LEO PENA PLACITA PARK (2.5 acres) – W. 8th St. & Conway Ave.

    Veterans Memorial, Sunken Amphitheater, Fountains, Pavilion, Special Events.

  • ROTARY PARK (1.2 acres) –

    Bus. Hwy. 83 & Conway Ave.Downtown beautification area.

  • MISSION HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL – S. Conway (FM 1016) to the World Birding Center

    5-mile Hike and Bike Trail, which includes Asphalt-Covered Trail, 2 Bridges, and Parking Lot for up to 30 vehicles.

  • RUBEN HINOJOSA PARK – 4205 Los Indios Parkway, South Shary RoadNeighborhood Park,

    which includes a Playground and Open Area for Play.

  • MISSION INDOOR RECREATION CENTER – 721 N. Bryan

    Indoor Basketball Court with a Hardwood Floor, Indoor Volleyball, and Senior Citizen Programs.

  • EL SENDERO PARK (1.5 acres) – El Sendero Subdivision (Sharyland Plantation), South Shary RoadNeighborhood Park,

    which includes a Playground and Open Area for Play.

  • LOS NOGALES PARK (1.5 acres) – Los Nogales Subdivision (Sharyland Plantation)

    Neighborhood Park, which includes a Playground and Open Area for Play.

  • Bentsen Palm Community Park (63 acres) – 1801 S. Inspiration Blvd.

    A Regional Park, which includes 12 picnic shelters, 2 acre pond with pier, 4 lighted baseball/softball fields, restrooms, playground, basketball courts, shuffle board courts, 3 lighted tennis courts, and a 2 mile walking trail.

  • Madero Park (10 acres) – S. Conway & Los Indios Rd.

    A Community Park, which includes a ½ mile walking trail, playground, restrooms, and a soccer field.

  • Market Square (2 acres)

    A Neighborhood Park, which includes shade canopies and restrooms.

  • Mission Sports Complex (16 acres)

    A Community Park, which includes shade canopies, restrooms, playground, and 3 lighted baseball/softball fields.
